There have been several notable venture-backed investments in Africa in recent years. Here are some of the top ones:

  1. Jumia Technologies AG: Jumia is an online marketplace that operates in several African countries. In April 2019, it became the first African startup to be listed on the New York Stock Exchange, raising $196 million in its initial public offering.

  2. Interswitch: Interswitch is a Nigerian fintech company that provides payment processing solutions. In November 2019, it raised $200 million in a funding round led by Visa, making it one of the most valuable African startups at the time.
